1. Sending Consent to Guardians

 

The opportunity for guardians to opt their child out of the trial must be given the week before the students are asked to complete the pre-survey. Consent forms can be emailed home to the guardians or printed off and sent home to parents who require a hardcopy version. Any guardian that does not want their child to participate in the trial needs to return the opt-out consent by email or return the signed hardcopy form to their classroom teacher. The teacher is asked to keep a record of the students that have been opted out of the trial and ensure they are excluded from access to the tutor and all trial surveys.  

2. Teacher Onboarding

 

Participating teachers attend AI Tutor onboarding session and get an AI Tutor account (approx. 30 minutes)

3. Students and Teacher Pre-Survey

 

Students and teachers complete the research the trial pre-survey 
(approx. 20 minutes)

4. Using the AI Tutor
 

Students are onboarded to the AI Tutor (approx. 20 minutes)

Use the AI Tutor once per class through until the end of trial (approx. 30 minutes per week)

5. Students and Teacher Post-Survey

 

Students and teachers complete the research the trial post-survey 
(approx. 20 minutes)

Overview

This research trial is led by the High Resolves Group https://www.highresolves.org/about, an Australian non-profit organisation established in 2005. High Resolves Group is the parent organisation of The Learning Network.  In partnership with the UTS Human Technology Institute (HTI) https://www.uts.edu.au/human-technology-institute and with support from the Paul Ramsay Foundation https://www.paulramsayfoundation.org.au, this research trial explores how using AI can enhance learning outcomes for all students across Australia by providing them with access to AI tutors.

 

Purpose: To discover how using AI can enhance learning outcomes for all students across Australia by providing them with access to AI tutors.

  • The AI tutor is fully compliant with the Australian Framework for Generative Artificial Intelligence in Schools

  • The AI tutor has built-in guardrails to ensure that privacy, security, and student safety are protected, while supporting students to remain on-task

  • The AI tutor is trained to guide students towards greater understanding of their academic subjects

  • ​The AI tutor is built to foster engagement and motivation.
